About Sebring Speedway
Sebring Raceway, an army airfield turned into a speedway, is the oldest permanent road racing facility in North America. Its debut race was a six-hour enduro that took place in a makeshift course marked with hay bales back in 1950. Unfortunately, the inaugural race did not garner much attention, attendance or revenue. Two years later, the track hosted the 12-hours of Sebring; a legendary race that gave it a widespread buzz and recognition. Nestled among cattle ranches and orange groves of Central Florida, the raceway offers drivers and race fans a quaint environment laced with the scent of orange blossoms.
The Thrill of the Track
For over six decades now, Sebring International Raceway has been on the international sports-car calendar for its action-packed events. On the track, you get to witness enough drama – lots of overtaking, crashing, and high octane excitement. The best moments are when the drivers corner harrowing hairpin turns, veer off the speedway, push against unbelievable odds before coming out ahead. What’s more? You get treated to tons of wheel-to-wheel action with underdog drivers making huge upsets.
Off the track, it’s always party time. Race fans get complete access to the competitor paddock. Viewing mounds around the fan-friendly circuit offer a preeminent view of the action-packed race. Better still, the pit box seats give a jaw-dropping up-close view of all the pit action. In The Hall of fame, you get up close and personal with legends and cars that have made history. Sebring Raceway’s Main Street treats you to lots of manufacturer’s displays, great food, and entertainment.
Major Events and Tickets
The historic 3.74-mile of concrete and asphalt hosts a variety of spectacular events and races all year-round. Among the top include; Pistons and Props, Michelin Sportscar Encore, Champcar Endurance Series, and, of course, the legendary 12 hours of Sebring. The best thing about Sebring is that a general admission ticket is enough to get you a parking space for your vehicle. Additionally, you get entry to the terrace and paddock area positioned on top of the start-finish line, without any extra charges.
Camping at Sebring
Sebring Raceway offers many RV-friendly campsites and trackside parking that combine to make the biggest tailgate party. Showers are available for use and gas, or charcoal grills are okay to bring along. However, you may not get the best RV spot without a reserved trackside parking/camping space ticket. But there’s no need to feel upset. If you’re planning to visit Sebring International Raceway, our luxury travels experts can help you schedule the upcoming events.
