Summer is a time when us Americans can finally take a deep breath and relax. Throughout the year, we’re on the go nonstop, whether it’s at school, at work, at home, or in the community. While these are worthy pursuits, we all need to rest and unwind. Now, summer has arrived! The kids are out of school, our communities have slowed their hustle, and even businesses are taking advantage of the long, sunny days.

The conditions are perfect for an extended RV road trip, and we want to give you some tips on how to make the most of it.

  1. Keep it old school. We spend all year looking at screens; our worlds have become digitized. On vacation, keeping screen use to a minimum will give you more time to look at the faces of your loved ones, and it’s especially healthy for your kids. Studies show that “free play” improves creativity in children and helps them build initiative.

  2. Make your RV a hub for fun: One of the great things about RV trips is the community fostered in the RV parks and resorts. Making your RV the fun place to hang out will result in spending time with other RV families, and all the kids will use your RV as their “home base” for play. (This makes it easier to keep track of your own kids, too!). So, set up a tent, play corn hole, or bring a trampoline. Just be creative!

  3. Schedule time spent in nature. While hanging out on campgrounds and visiting local restaurants is a great part of RV travel, there’s tons of benefits of getting away from large groups and taking in the sites nature has to offer. It’s been proven that spending time in nature reduces stress and helps with weight loss; it also helps the kids blow off steam after long hours spent on the road.

If you’re a fan of RV road tripping, then chances are you’re already a pro at having fun, but these are just a few ideas to take your road trip to the next level. What are some of your favorite things to do on the road? Share your ideas with us on FacebookTwitter, and Instagram.
